Construction boom, record growth for businesses dealing with real estate/

If there is one business that has been doing well in recent years, it is that of real estate activities.

As the constructions are increasing significantly, the activities dealing with the sale of real estate are increasing at a high rate.

INSTAT data on enterprise statistics show that in 2022 businesses in real estate activities will grow 47.5% compared to 2021, the highest among all other sectors.

In 2022, there were 1,532 real estate activities across the country from 1,040 in 2021. Also, the number of enterprises in the construction sector expanded by 14.6% in the same period.

Construction is increasing, carpentry is decreasing

On the other hand, joinery activities marked the biggest decrease in the number of enterprises in 2022, by about 11%. INSTAT data show that during 2021, 128 carpentry businesses went bankrupt across the country, bringing the total number to 1047 from 1175 in 2021.

Representatives of the joinery sector complained earlier to Monitor, stating that the construction boom has not increased the demand for furniture. According to them, a large part of the apartments were bought for long-term investments and are not furnished and remain empty.

After the carpentry, the biggest drop was for the enterprises that treat the polluted water by about 6%. This is happening because of a reform in the sector of the state-owned water and sewerage companies that are being concentrated in the regions.

The number of businesses increased by 9%

The total number of active enterprises last year reached 113,460 with an annual increase of 9%. More detailed data shows that the strongest growth has been shown by related businesses of information services with 41% more than in 2021, accommodation with 37%, textiles and clothing with 33%.

The progress of the number of enterprises reflects the developments in the structure of the economy. The increase in foreign visitors has increased the demand for more businesses in the hotel field, but on the other hand, food service and trade businesses related to tourism are less, 6.9 and 3.9% respectively.

Enterprises that exercise commercial activity have occupied the highest percentage of the number of enterprises with 36.5%, the food service represented by restaurants represents 11% of the total number of active enterprises in the country./ Monitor.al
