The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that while Albania continues to move towards EU membership, trade opportunities will be created for the country.

She said that the investment plan of 30 billion euros has been launched, and she even said that this plan, if properly implemented, has the opportunity to double the size of your economy within this 10-year period.

"We want you to become part of us to complete the EU. Albania has really achieved a lot. Our common objective is to open negotiations on what we call the core group of chapters as soon as possible by the end of the year.

We started with an investment plan of 30 billion euros. 1.4 billion euros have been mobilized with very important projects such as the Fierza hydropower plant, but also with the railway with Montenegro. Today I want to focus on the new EU growth plan. I want to focus on the EU's new growth plan, because here we are moving towards a new phase of action, as this plan has the potential, if properly implemented, to double the size of your economy within this 10-year period. The principle is that in certain areas you will have access to the EU single market, but for this reforms are necessary and the reforms will be accompanied by investments. This is how the door opens for our market, for the common regional market of the Western Balkans. Of course, this will be accompanied by financial investments, but of course reforms will be necessary.

Our third message is that our investments will have the same value as your jobs. I think this is coming at the right moment for Albania and the EU to be closer to each other.
