Lawyer Spartak Ngjela has commented on the statements of American ambassador Yuri Kim regarding corruption at high levels and that there are officials who are afraid of going to jail.

According to Njjela, the ambassador does not talk for nothing about powerful names that may end up behind bars because corruption is at high levels. 

In an interview with the journalist Nertil Agalliu, Ngjela said that corruption has destroyed competition in the market, has discredited the Albanian state.

"Kim does not talk in vain, corruption is at high levels. It is a matter of evidence. I have doubts where the rulers found the money they made the villas. Corruption has disrupted market competition, discredited the Albanian state, and left Albania without investments. Corruption has dealt a heavy blow to development in Albania. All these and the problems of criminality that there is a direct link between organized crime and high state corruption. Corruption is not cleaned up without organized crime. There are no investments in Albania because there is corruption," said Ngjela./CNA.al
