From the updated information received from the MZSH-Kolonjë and the regional structure of the Agency for Protected Areas, they announce that the fire that broke out on the afternoon of August 11 in the direction of the Gërmenje Natural Park in the territory of the Kolonjë municipality has not spread further since last night, but still remains active and risky, as the wind favors it.

Forces are working to create a containment perimeter. Around 40 forces are currently on the ground.

The Municipality Service has begun work to open roads, in order to get as close as possible to the affected area with firefighting vehicles.

But since it is a border area, there are many mines and explosions are heard from time to time, so it poses a danger to the officers and they cannot get too close to the perimeter of the fire.

At the same time, the engineering group that arrived last night from Tirana is heading to the scene to dismantle several mines found in the territory.

In the meantime, the Albanian side is also in communication with the Greek side for coordinated actions./ CNA
