The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, will appear before the Special Court tomorrow to once again request his freedom.
Meta, who has been in prison since October of last year, has filed this request with the GJKKO after SPAK communicated the charges on August 4.
But this request and Meta's case itself is not as simple as it seems.
His case is closely related to the case of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
The connection lies in the claim that if the court releases Ilir Meta, it can also release Erion Veliaj.
As for Erion Veliaj, the mayor of Tirana is in Durrës Prison under the security measures imposed on him.
The decisions so far against Veliaj come after investigations against him and 13 charges for 4 serious criminal offenses.
A few days ago, SPAK confirmed that Veliaj's file is divided into factions, as he is also suspected of many other criminal offenses.
The trial of Meta and Veliaj is underway as several charges are brought against them. /CNA
