Italian tourists left without paying/ Meloni: I'm ashamed, I paid the bill
The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has expressed regret for the case of Italian tourists in Berat, who ran away without paying the bill at a restaurant.

Meloni says that he was made aware of this event by Prime Minister Edi Rama, during her stay in Albania for vacation.

She says that she paid the bill personally, although she charged the Italian ambassador to Albania to carry out this task.

The Prime Minister of the neighboring state confesses that she did this because she does not want this type of image that tourists have conveyed about Italy.

" While I was in Albania, Prime Minister Rama told me the story of 4 Italians who left a local restaurant without paying the bill. The owner of the restaurant, after footage of the escape went viral, said he was happy because our compatriots had eaten well and were satisfied.

I am ashamed, because the Italy I want to represent is not a nation that makes itself speak out about these things, that does not respect the work of others, that thinks it is fun to humiliate others. So I decided to ask the ambassador to go collect the bill, which I paid personally. No big deal, in fact I didn't even report it.

However, this has also created controversy in Italy, from an opposition that apparently prefers another image of Italy. I'm sorry because I was hoping that everyone would at least agree on something so trivial ," her reaction reads./ CNA
