"Pink October"/ Koçiu appeals to girls and women in the ranks
Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health

In the framework of "Pink October", the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior organized today an awareness activity with the girls and women of the State Police for early control, as well as wide participation in the National Screening and Combat Program of breast cancer.

In her speech, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, said that girls and women who have broken taboos by joining the ranks of the State Police, now have a very important task, raising awareness among the population about cancer. of the breast.

Koçiu added that the State Police is a natural ally of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in spreading the awareness campaign through the distribution of pink ribbons, sensitizing messages as well as the example that the officers give by being controlled.

"Unlike the fight against crime, the fight against cancer is a battle against a much more difficult enemy to identify, one that affects an average of one in eight women in their lifetime, but one that thankfully is always more easy to win", said Koçiu.

On the 30th anniversary of the launch of the pink ribbon, as the first comprehensive campaign at the world level, Koçiu appealed for more efforts to ensure the success of the National Breast Cancer Screening Program.

"In October, breast cancer awareness month, my call to all women and girls is one: Take advantage of our free mammography program offered throughout the country," said Koçiu.

"Inherited stereotypes, as well as the lack of a consolidated culture of prevention, every year leads to the unnecessary, completely preventable loss of life from breast tumor" - emphasized the minister./ CNA
