The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, in cooperation with Albanian universities, has launched the "Study in Albania" campaign to inform graduates about the academic offer of Albanian universities.
This initiative aims to promote the advantages of studying in the country, introducing graduates to new study programs, partnerships that our universities have with prestigious European institutions, study programs with double degrees and foreign language programs.
Manastirliu presented the Albanian academic offer in a meeting with the graduates, held in the premises of the Ministry of Education and Sports. In this meeting, Manastirliu emphasized the importance of this campaign to inform and invite graduates to choose the branches most demanded by the labor market and with a perspective for the future. Manastirliu emphasized the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Sports to diversify the academic offer in close cooperation with Albanian universities.
"As part of the 'Studio in Albania' campaign, we are together in this first meeting with a part of high school graduates, graduates who had really impressive results at the end of the state matura, to inform you, but from the side also to invite you to this campaign to promote the branches which are the most sought after in the country, but which are also the branches of the future. The Ministry of Education and Sports in close partnership with universities is making possible the diversification of the academic offer, the expansion of programs which are in partnership with prestigious European universities, to increase the number of joint degrees and double degrees," Manastirliu said. .
During the meeting, the minister informed the graduates about the new study programs which are the new academic offer for the year 2024-2025. "There are dozens of new study programs that we have approved as MAS for the new academic year 2024-2025. There are over 960 programs, both cycles, that are offered in our universities," she said, emphasizing that many of these programs are in partnership with well-known European universities.
The minister also mentioned the benefits of choosing a public university in Albania, including scholarships for excellent students and those with social and economic difficulties.
"I believe that choosing a public university, studying in Albania definitely creates a new perspective for you. A first for all the incentive programs we have for all students. There are about 50 thousand students who are supported by the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Albanian government with scholarships. Scholarships for excellent students, scholarships for students with social and economic difficulties, support and reduction with zero fees depending on social conditions. On the other hand, for the programs that we consider to be priority programs and that we are working on, again this year we will have students who will be supported for priority and strategic programs, who will be supported with scholarships equal to the minimum salary."
Another aspect that Minister Manastirliu mentioned was the increase in interest in teaching programs, thanks to the increase in salaries for teachers.
"I believe there will be a growing interest this year in teaching programs. You know that we have had and are making effective starting from July 1 the increase in teachers' salaries, which means that the average teacher's salary goes to 950 euros and that of course we aim to continue supporting teachers. But what is important is precisely the impact that the salary increase will have on the interest of graduates to follow the teaching profession. We estimate that year after year it will also be felt by the generation of graduates who will want and want to study to be teachers, knowing already that the salaries for teachers are dignified salaries", she concluded.
This campaign aims to inform high school graduates about the potential and opportunities that study programs in Albanian universities have and offer and to encourage young Albanians to choose to study in Albania./ CNA
