The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, was arrested this Monday, while his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, was placed under arrest.

SPAK has listed the charges that burden Meta and Kryemadhi, where the benefit of a villa is also mentioned.

According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, Meta and Kryemadhi have taken a villa from a businessman.

They have received the villa as a reward under the accusation that they have exerted illegal influence on the officials appointed by the LSI, in the interest of the businessmen's economic activities.

Also, SPAK declares that Kryemadhi has also proposed changing a law, at the behest of the businessman.

"During the investigation, it was also found that the couple IM and MK entered into a corrupt relationship with the businessman SM, temporarily benefiting from a villa as a reward for the illegal influence they exerted on public officials appointed by LSI, in the interest of the businessman's economic activities in the word. The person under investigation MK, at the request of the businessman in question, has also undertaken the change of a law in the Parliament of Albania (the law which was changed at the request of the businessman SM)", underlines the Special Prosecutor's Office./ CNA
