The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, at the Civil Society Forum in Prague at the Leaders' Summit of the Berlin process, addressed cyber threats as an urgent concern.

According to him, what has been missing is a proactive early warning system to address threats in advance.

Balla proposed to create a cyber security center and set up this center in Tirana.

“Another urgent concern that requires our collective attention consists of cyber threats. Although we have adequately managed these challenges, thanks to the unwavering support and expertise of our strategic allies - and for this I am grateful to the United States of America and other partners - one vital component has been missing: an early warning system proactive to address these threats in advance and here there is a need for a joint approach from the 6 countries of the Western Balkans.

In accordance with the consensus reached during the September 14 Ministerial Meeting, there is a strong recommendation for regional cooperation to create a cyber security center, which I will propose to be set up in Tirana. This center would act as a focal point for sharing best practices and experiences, recognizing both the cross-border nature of threats and the inherent fragility of our technological frameworks. Cybercrimes require specialized focus and the countries of the Western Balkans should further cultivate a sustainable cooperation in this area. The determined support of the European Union, which Prime Minister Rama will reiterate before the meeting with the leaders of the region, represents the most prudent way to proactively address these important challenges." , said Balla./ CNA
