The government's initiative to increase salaries has reduced the number of employees in ministries and central institutions.

This is announced in the draft submitted to the Assembly for the draft budget for 2024.

In this draft, it is stated that a total of 85,206 people work in the organization, but due to the restructuring of each institution within the salary reform, the number of employees has decreased.

"The total number of employees in the organization is 85,206 people. The maximum number of employees for each ministry and central institution, given in table 2, which is attached to this law and is an integral part of it, is detailed by the ministries and central institutions, in accordance with the approved structures for each subsidiary institution. The Council of Ministers can redistribute the number of employees between the institutions mentioned in table 2, which is attached to this law, in the case of restructuring existing institutions or creating new institutions.

The number of employees since the restructuring of each institution, carried out within the salary reform, is reduced compared to the one approved in table 2, goes to the reserve number provided in this table and is used by decision of the Council of Ministers for the creation of new institutions/functions as well as for structures related to negotiations and membership in the European Union", the draft budget states.

It is further emphasized that for the year 2024, no change in the organic structures of the central government units is approved due to the salary increase, with the exception of new institutions or functions.

This definition also includes those structures in which the salary for the function is given or is according to the respective rank, where any increase in rank will become effective only if it is not accompanied by additional financial effects on the cost calculated according to the approved ranks./ CNA
