Reimbursement of freelancers/ DP submits a legal proposal to the Assembly

Two months after the Constitutional Court struck down the Tax on Free Professions as an unconstitutional and unfair tax, thousands of taxpayers are complaining that they are not being refunded.

Under these conditions, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, represented by the MP Jorida Tabaku and the chairman of the Parliamentary Group, Gazmend Bardhi, have undertaken a legal initiative for the reimbursement of taxes unjustly paid by freelancers.

Tabaku criticized the government for its inaction after the decision of the Constitutional Court.

"This is the legal proposal that, together with Mr. Bardhi, we are submitting for the reimbursement of every penny paid by freelancers.

If a citizen or business was in debt to the government, it would use all the force of the state to collect the debt. Today, when it's the government's turn to return the money to the citizens, it hesitates," she said.

Bardhi, in support of this proposal, emphasized the importance of protecting freelancers and the middle class as the main pillar of the Albanian economy.

"We are determined to stand by their side and ensure that justice is served," declared Bardhi.

It is expected that the legal proposal will be discussed in the Assembly, where DP will seek the support of all deputies for its approval, so that justice and equality are the foundation of fiscal policies in the country./ CNA
