The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, following the meetings dedicated to vocational education in this new school year, visited the vocational high school "Hysen Çela" in Durrës, accompanied by the mayor Emiriana Sako and the deputy minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Olta Manjani .

Out of more than 800 students who have chosen to study at this school, about 430 of them study hotel-tourism management with bar-restaurant, kitchen-pastry and hotel and restaurant services profiles. Also, the direction of shipping with its two profiles is closely related to the tourism sector.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment stated that the new approaches in governance and the education system have aimed to orient students, but also parents towards professional education, which has often been prejudiced.

"There has been a kind of prejudice against vocational schools, while the work brought the economy and the market to move in such a way that those trained in vocational schools are much more in demand in the market", said Minister Kumbaro during the visit to the premises of the school where he talked closely with the teacher's students about job offers and got to know practical aspects of the teaching process in this school.

From Durrës, the minister also presented the new statistics instrument, the "eVisitors" platform as an effort to formalize the capacities of accommodation structures.

"We have a much greater utilization of the number of bed capacities which will be oriented through a new instrument that we are building, a platform that will be called 'eVisitors' for statistics and to really understand what the bed capacity is , the number of visitors, their preferences, but we also started relations with 'Airbnb' to formalize this whole market. Providing apartments on platforms like 'Airbnb' should go in proportion to the tourism industry, hotels, restaurants because they create employment, but also not to damage the real estate market. It will also help the municipalities with what is called the 'tourist tax,'" said Minister Kumbaro.

Kumbaro also spoke about the appreciation that has been given to professional education through the increase in teachers' salaries.

With the August 2024 Normative Act, 240 million additional ALL were allocated for new investments in Vocational Education 2024, with a total investment budget of 2.8 billion ALL for the period 2024-2026.

The 2025-2027 draft budget will also include investments for laboratories, schools and vocational training centers.
