The fall of the Euro/ Ibrahimaj presents the measures taken by the government

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, after the government meeting, in a statement to the media, announced the measures taken to help exporters who are affected by the fall of the euro against the lek.

Ibrahimaj said that until March next year, exporters will not pay tax on profit and added that they can only make this payment if they come out with a profit after making the balance sheet.

"During the past month, we had several meetings with the exporters' association where potential interventions that could be implemented to help them were discussed. What has happened is that those businesses that work with ordering contracts, now find themselves in a situation where their expenses are in Lek and their income is in Euros. One of the measures that will be taken is the postponement of the profit tax installments deadline until March next year when businesses close their balance sheets. Entities that are exporters and export more than 70% will not prepay the profit tax installments until March when they will make the balance," said Ibrahimaj.

Among other things, the minister said that there will also be a VAT refund for exporters, a legal obligation that will be fulfilled within a period of 30 days.

" This comes as support for the lack of liquidity that businesses have in the market after the strengthening of the lek. Other measures, VAT refund, legal obligation to give a 30-day deadline for the category of exporters" - added the minister.

Also, Ibrahimaj that the strengthening of the lek against the euro has come as a result of the economic development of the country and the higher number of tourists year after year. One of the measures taken will be the reimbursement of gas for companies in the production sector in Albania./ CNA.al
