The government has introduced the new draft law regarding forced labor of medical students after graduation for five years.

After the partial repeal of the law by the Constitutional Court, the government has decided to reduce the mandatory work period for medical students from five years to three years.

Thus, after completing their studies, medical students will not be able to receive their diploma for three years.

This applies to students from the second to the fourth year, from 3 years that the law provided before, to 2, and for students from the fifth and sixth year, that the law provided for two years of forced employment within Albania decreased by one year.

"In cases where the employment is not realized within 3 (three) months, for reasons beyond the doctor's control, until the creation of the opportunity for employment in public health institutions, for a period of up to 9 (nine) months, the doctor has the right be treated with 80% of the salary of a general practitioner in primary care, for a period no longer than this term, or choose to be employed in non-public health institutions in the country, notifying the ministry responsible for health, as well as maintaining the right to priority employment within a period of 9 (nine) months in public health institutions." - says the draft law./ CNA
