Opposition protest/ Police: Bardhi, Noka and Minarolli are being prosecuted

The police have announced that due to yesterday evening's protest, 3 representatives of the Democratic Party, Gaz Bardhi, Flamur Noka and Ervin Minarolli, have been criminally prosecuted.

All three oppositionists were criminally prosecuted in a free state for the criminal offense of "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations".

Police Notification

The Local Directorate of the Tirana Police, regarding the protest held on 07.10.2024, at 18:00, on the boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit", following the investigative and procedural actions carried out at the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance First of the General Jurisdiction Tirana:

-arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen: Xh. Rr., 57 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Assaults due to duty" and "Destruction of property by fire";

-proceeded in a state of freedom to citizens FD, 31 years old, and 2 minor citizens aged 16 and 17 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Disturbance of public order and peace", "Destruction of property" and "Opposition to an employee" of the public order police";

In the same way, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office and the proceedings started in free status for the criminal offense "Organization and participation in illegal gatherings and demonstrations" (Article 262 of the Criminal Code, first paragraph), for citizens: FN, general secretary of Democratic Party; GB, chairman of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party and EM, organizational secretary of the Democratic Party.

Also, efforts are being made to capture the citizens KK, 43 years old, MT, 24 years old, IT, 49 years old, AP, 46 years old, SB, 49 years old, DN, 62 years old, KB, 22 years old, HV, 68 years old, and a 17-year-old minor citizen, suspected of the criminal offenses "Disturbance of public peace", "Assaults due to duty", "Destruction of property by fire", "Destruction of property", "Violation of the rules on explosives and incendiary substances " and "Opposition of the public order police officer", provided by articles 274, 237, 151, 150, 282 and 236 of the Criminal Code.

Yesterday, the protesters initially gathered on the boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit", in front of the Prime Minister's Office. Afterwards, they moved to the headquarters of the Socialist Party, the building of the Ministry of the Interior, the building of the Municipality of Tirana, the Parliament of Albania and during the journey, the protesters destroyed private and public property, threw explosive fuel and hard objects in the direction of employees of the Police and the buildings of public institutions. They also damaged advertising boards and burned garbage cans.

As a result of the attacks with hard objects, pyrotechnics and Molotov bombs, on the police officers and the buildings of the state institutions, 10 police officers were injured, of which 7 after medical assistance left the apartment, while the other 3 are being treated in the hospital. hospital and are out of danger for life.

Also, 2 citizens (father and daughter), who are suspected to have been injured with explosives (Molotov cocktails) and are out of danger, went to the hospital for medical help.

In the capacity of material evidence, the following were seized:
- 68 cracked flakkadan remains;
- 23 plastic pieces of burnt bottles;
- 3 plastic bottles of water;
- 3 cracked smokers;
- 1 bottle of 0.5 liter fuel with unexploded pyrotechnic material;
- 1 black bag with 8 0.5 liter plastic bottles with fuel (molotov);
- 1 cylindrical canister box;
- 2 bags with 17 0.5 liter canisters with suspected incendiary material attached to unexploded pyrotechnic material (Molotov cocktails).

The investigative structures of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continue the work to identify and arrest other citizens involved in violent acts during yesterday's protest.
