"Trevi" in defense/ New measures to preserve the magic of the fountain from excess

Tourists will no longer be able to throw coins into the Trevi Fountain, reports the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the vice president of the Municipality of Culture, Gianluca Honorato.

According to them, this is an attempt to limit overcrowding around the fountain, which will be protected by a transparent partition that will not allow visitors to get too close to the water.

These changes will enter into force in January 2025 and there will be an experimental period of implementation of the new rules.

Among other things, it has been considered to set a low ticket price, to see the fountain more closely, which can be booked online.

These changes come as Rome is becoming heavily overpopulated by tourists, as well as a way to protect the Italian capital's historic monuments.
