Fier Prosecution sends three Municipality directors to trial for abuse of office

The Fier Prosecutor's Office, at the conclusion of the investigations, has sent the two directors of the Fier Municipality and the director of the Local Tax Control Directorate (DVKT) Southern Region for trial.

Citizens AH, AC and V.Ç. are accused of abuse of office and exercising unlawful influence.

The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has completed the investigations and has sent to trial the two directors of the Fier Municipality and the director of the Local Tax Control Directorate (DVKT) Southern Region, accused of abuse of office and exercising illegal influence.

Citizen AH, in her capacity as the General Director of Taxes and Urban Planning in the Municipality of Fier, is accused of not having taken measures to install a fiscal cash register in the Municipality's parking system, allowing the avoidance of paying tax obligations in significant amounts. Investigations also show that AH has exercised illegal influence over subordinate directorates, by making fictitious invoices for entities and taxing them at lower values.

Also, AH influenced the Director of Taxes in the Municipality of Fier, AC, to carry out irregular tax calculations for the entity "R..." shpk, issuing a certificate that this entity had no liabilities, although it had unpaid taxes in significant amounts.

Citizen AC, Director of Local Taxes and Tariffs in the Municipality of Fier, is accused of having issued and conceived tax invoices above the real value for several entities. After the entities were notified of the invoices, they were changed after complaints, sometimes even decreasing them more than the Municipal Council's decision had foreseen. AC has also made fictitious invoices and has not taken any measures to fiscalize vehicle parking points in the Municipality's administration.

Meanwhile, citizen V.Ç., Director of DVKT Southern Region, is accused of having ordered an inspection of a commercial entity without authorization from the GDT. After conducting the inspection, he did not follow the legal procedures to request a re-inspection at the General Directorate of Taxes and did not supervise the awareness campaign, as no other entity was inspected.

In conclusion, the Fier Prosecutor's Office has sent the case to court, charging: AH with committing the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office" and "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions"; AC with committing the criminal offense of "Abuse of office"; V.Ç. with committing the criminal offense of "Abuse of office"./ CNA
