President Bajram Begaj has decreed changes in diplomacy this Monday.
Begaj has accepted the release from office of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania to Ukraine, Mimoza Halimi, who was not resident in Kiev.
Halimi continues to be the ambassador of Albania in the Republic of Poland where she is a resident, as well as in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Now the Albanian diplomacy in Ukraine will be directed by Ernal Filo. Unlike the previous ambassador, Ernal Filo will be resident in Ukraine.
For the first time, Albania will have a diplomatic headquarters and a resident ambassador in Kiev.
Previously, diplomatic relations between Albania and Ukraine were covered through the Embassy of Albania in Poland, where the resident ambassador also covered Ukraine.
Ernal Filo is one of the most experienced diplomats in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as he has served in foreign policy since 1997./ CNA
