The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, participated in the Ministerial of defense ministers of NATO countries, held in Brussels.

During this Ministerial, the sharpest issues of security and defense in the Euro-Atlantic area were discussed, which will form the basis of the talks at the Washington Summit, which is expected to be held in July.

The Minister, in his speech, underlined that Albania continues to have a serious financial commitment to the Alliance by formalizing the contribution of 2.03% of GDP. A good part of this contribution will be invested in the modernization of the Armed Forces in weapons and equipment.

Pelesi introduced the counterparts to Albania's ambition to develop the defense industry and plans to enter the international market with "Made in Albania" products within 2030.

Likewise, during his speech, the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, focused on the defense and security situation in the Western Balkans, which he considered fragile and not stable. According to Minister Peleshi, the All-Serbian Assembly held in Belgrade a few days ago is disturbing for the narrative related to the territorial claims raised by him as well as the language used against the Western allies. The Minister of Defense reiterated Albania's support to Kosovo on its way to Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as asked for balance and realistic treatment of the facts on security dynamics and Defense developments in Kosovo.

In this ministerial, the Secretary General of NATO, Stoltenberg, emphasized the importance of adopting the Defense and Deterrence Agenda of the Washington Summit and also invited the Ministers of Defense to accept the Assistance and Training package for Ukraine./ CNA
