Pope Leo XIV has sent a letter of congratulations to His Beatitude, Joan, on the name day of the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania.

The Holy Father wishes His Beatitude that God blesses him with abundant spiritual gifts.

Further, in Pope Leo's congratulatory letter, the Holy Father writes that he hopes that His Beatitude, John, and the Church of Albania will always have their gaze fixed on the Lord Christ.

On the day when the Church of the East celebrates the liturgical commemoration of the death of the Apostle and Evangelist John, your saint, I pray for you, Your Beatitude, that Almighty God may bless you with abundant spiritual gifts, as well as all those entrusted to your care. I also hope that, in imitation of the Apostle John, your Beatitude and the entire Church of Albania will always keep their gaze fixed on the Lord Christ and on the fullness of life and love that awaits us in the glorious return, as we continue to journey forward, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, on the path towards reconciliation and the full restoration of communion between our Churches. With heartfelt greetings, I exchange with your Beatitude a fraternal embrace of peace in the Lord.
