From waste management to water/ Gonzato: Key challenge on Albania's path

The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj.

During the meeting, some of the issues such as nature protection, waste management, improving water and air quality, as well as the fight against environmental crimes were discussed.

Gonzato described these as key challenges on Albania's path towards the EU.

"Nature protection, waste management, improving water and air quality, and fighting environmental crimes are key challenges on Albania's path towards the EU.

Addressing these challenges will bring direct benefits to the daily lives of Albanian citizens.

EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato discussed these priorities with the Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj.

Albania needs to align with EU legislation to meet the closing criteria for Chapter 27 (Environment and Climate Change).

Ambassador Gonzato assured the minister that the EU will continue to work closely with the Albanian authorities to support them in the implementation of these priorities," the announcement says./ CNA
