For the first time in Albania, at American Hospital 3, the most advanced Paxman Scalp Cooling device has been installed, which protects hair from falling out in oncology patients during chemotherapy treatment.

Dr. Kleida Mati, an oncologist at American Hospital 3, says that this innovative technology helps these patients, avoiding one of the most psychologically difficult consequences for them: hair loss.

"Paxman Scalp Cooling is a device that helps prevent hair loss during chemotherapy. This is the first time this device has come to Albania for patients undergoing chemotherapy," said Dr. Mati.

The installation of this device in Albania is not only a technological innovation, but also a more humane approach to patients.

"It is very important to treat side effects that carry a particular emotional burden, such as hair loss. Stopping hair loss during therapy helps patients be more focused on treatment and, in many cases, continue their daily activities without unnecessary emotional burdens," emphasizes the oncologist.

Using PAXMAN, according to Dr. Kleida Mati, is as simple as it is valuable for patients.

"During chemotherapy, patients are provided with a hood, which is connected to a device that causes uniform cooling of the scalp. This causes vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels) and reduces the penetration of chemotherapy preparations into the hair roots. As a result, hair is damaged less and consequently, hair loss is significantly reduced," explains Dr. Mati.
