Journalist Ola Xama spoke about the attacks that were made by the media near Veliaj after the articles she wrote about the incinerators and how the Mayor Erion Veliaj is involved.

Invited to the show "The Unexposed" with star Rakip, Xama stated that the attacks started in July 2023 where she reported on Veliaj, where there was talk of exposure in the Tirana incinerator procedure.

Since the next day, she says that the attacks started by some media who called her paid, while she receives the message from Veliaj who calls her a paid killer.

Then she says that the personal and family attacks also started.

"The attacks started in July 2023, after an article in BIRN where I reported on the mayor of Tirana, where it was talked about the exposure in the procedure of the incinerator of Tirana, of Erion Veliaj. I have implemented and followed all the reporting standards of well, I asked him for a comment. He didn't answer. The next day some media launched an attack calling me paid. Then Veliaj sends me several messages, calling me a paid killer.

At the weekend "Gazeta Dita" opens with a headline calling me a contractor, as if I were a contract killer, using the same language as Veliaj.

I have also written other articles on the SPAK file, about Arben Ahmetaj and money laundering. I am called paid by Ahmetaj, when I also wrote about SPAK's accusations against Ahmetaj.

The attacks have continued and they have not only dealt with me, as a wife and mother, who violate me morally, but also my husband, my family members, as if I am influenced by my husband's work, so that he gets tenders. Everyone can check that they are not true. I filed a lawsuit regarding this matter.

I don't want to be victimized, but I have never confused the profession with accusations and taking personal life with someone's life, if there is no public interest.

I decided to file a civil lawsuit and after that the attack was even more vicious, where they label me as a criminal with two names, why I took my husband's last name. I am described as a person who traveled to Dubai, making insinuations," Xama said, among other things./ CNA
