The 31-year-old Gerti Shehu, who attacked the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in the December 6 protest, has filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of First Instance, which imposed a prison sentence for the aggressor.

The defense lawyer has requested a relaxation of the security measure.

Gerti Shehu punched the head of the DP, Berisha, on December 6, where he attacked the leader after leaving the blue headquarters.

The protest was held on the same day as the EU-Western Balkans summit, where 27 European leaders landed in Tirana.

Berisha and DP deputies have condemned the attack, calling it an assassination not only against the leader but the entire opposition./ CNA.al
