From January 1, 2025, the price of water for 12 municipalities in the country

The Water Regulatory Body has decided to increase the price of water after the request of two companies that have 12 units or municipalities under their administration.

The price increase was made mainly for the category of family members, while for businesses and public institutions, no revisions were made, except for some rare cases.

But which are the two companies that have applied for price increases and the new fees that citizens will pay after the decision comes into force.

First, the Shkodër Regional Water Supply and Sewerage Company, which covers Shkodra, Vau e Deja, Puka, Fushë Arrzi and Malesia e Madhe.

For families in Shkodër and Vaun e Dejës, there is a 37.5 percent increase in the price of drinking water, while there is no change for businesses and institutions. Family members will pay 55 Lek for each m3 of water.

For Vau e Deja, the increase in the price of water is 31 percent, while for Fushë Arrëzi, this increase has doubled, where from the 20 lek m3 they currently pay after the entry into force of the decision, the fee will be 40 lek/m3 water. For Puka, the price increase is calculated at 14.2 percent, where from 35 allek they will pay 40 allek m3. These fees will be payable from 1 January 2025.

ERRU has approved price revision for the regional enterprise in Gjirokastër. According to the new and current prices, even in this case the increase has mainly involved family members.

Specifically, the families of Gjirokastra will pay an 8.6 percent higher price compared to the current price. Today m3 of water is paid 46 ALL, while with the new price 50 ALL m3. In Përmet, the increase is calculated at 25 percent, where from 40 allek they will pay 50 allek m3 of water.

In Tepelena, the increase is calculated at 51.5 percent and the same in Memaliaj. In Këlcyre, the increase is 35 percent, where there is a price review for public institutions as well, with an increase of 20 lek per m3 of water in relation to the current price.

The price increase, although at more moderate levels, is also applied in Dropull and Libohova. Even for this company, the entry into force of the new prices is from January 1, 2025./ Monitor magazine
