Manastirliu: The strategic plan for profiling the University of Korça

The Ministry of Education and Sports has decided to take concrete steps to improve the academic offer and capacities at the University of Korça, aiming to profile this university.

This was announced in the meeting that Minister Ogerta Manastirliu held in the premises of the University of Korça, with the academic staff.

"Our common will has guided us in decision-making to have a true analysis of all aspects related to study programs and staff capacities at the University of Korça. In order to make the offer attractive, of course we need to increase our capacities in relation to scientific research, but also in terms of academic capacities, so that the university can have all study cycles and, above all, doctoral schools", said Manastirliu.

Also, Minister Ogerta Manastirliu said that these are the steps of a strategic plan for the development of the university, which aims not only to increase the academic and scientific quality, but also to integrate the regional development and socio-economic perspectives of Korça and the surrounding areas.

This plan will include concrete steps for improving the study program, adapting the academic offer to market demands and regional development, as well as developing the university's academic, research and infrastructural capacities.

"The strategic plan for the development and profiling of the University of Korça is intended to include in all study terms the regional development of Korçë and beyond, the development and the social, economic and demographic perspective in order to come up with a plan which starts to implemented as soon as possible and by 2030, we set ourselves the goal of profiling this university", stated the Minister of Education and Sports.

In this context, emphasis was also placed on the importance of the internationalization of the university offer, with the aim of attracting more students and staff from abroad and offering study programs that comply with European standards.

For this purpose, the University of Korça has started collaborations with other educational institutions, and the closest one is with the Polytechnic University of Tirana.

"We are working on internationalization, to bring our university offer as close as possible to the European dimension of studies and research. But we have many opportunities to lean on each other within our university system. The effort we are making is to open a study program through the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the first cycle for "Information Engineering" with a joint degree," said Minister Manastirliu.

The Minister also visited the University Library, where the project for "Digitalization of the Fund of the Fan S. Noli University Library", a project financed by the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (AKKSHI), has just been completed. CNA
