On April 13, 2022, the Government approved the draft decision, which paved the way for the compensation of public transport companies with 100 ALL per liter of oil, in order to protect citizens from the increase of the ticket price.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku stated after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, that the decision to compensate these companies is part of the anti-crisis package designed by the government to support citizens and business.

"Through this decision we have given way to the opening of the calculation method for all units that are in this process for three months, March-May. "98% of transport in Albania is done by road and we are trying to save the ticket price so that there is no change", declared Balluku.

But this draft decision is being violated by transport companies.

The lines Tirana - Durres and vice versa, have increased the ticket price by 300 old lek more, despite being compensated.

From 1500 old lekë to the citizens who the day before were asked for 1800 old lekë.

While passengers are not provided with a transport ticket, which raises suspicions of tax evasion and is also confirmed by Taxes. /CNA.al
