DP MP Belind Këlliçi has made another denunciation focusing on Prime Minister Edi Rama and the "Smart City" project.
According to the MP, Rama met with the head of the G42 company, Peng Xiao, to whom he awarded $118 million in procurement for the "Smart City" project without a tender, without competition.
Këlliçi emphasizes that this is a controversial matter in many ways, firstly because according to the MP, the initial amount for this project was estimated at 60 million USD. But then, suddenly, it almost doubles. 50 million euros are added.
The MP highlights that there have been previous complaints regarding the Smart City affair, where it was found that the equipment that will be used to cover the country with cameras was priced at 3 to 4 times more expensive than it costs on the market.
He says that the most suspicious part has to do with the company that was awarded this project and that this affects national security.
The MP denounces that G42 has strong ties to China, about which concerns have been raised in the United States Congress, and it is precisely to this group that Edi Rama has decided to give the most sensitive data, and the basic element of national security, which is camera surveillance throughout the territory.
"Edi Rama shows us again with photos the traces of a scandal!
During a visit to Abu Dhabi, Edi Rama met with the head of the G42 company, Peng Xiao, to whom he awarded $118 million in procurement for the Smart City project without a tender or competition.
A controversial affair in many ways.
First, the initial amount for this project was estimated at 60 million USD. But then, suddenly, it almost doubles. 50 million euros are added. Have we encountered a similar story somewhere before?! Yes, at the tunnel of the account.
Even in that case, the photo of Rama with the executives of the Turkish company preceded the addition of 50 million euros to the contract. Money that evaporated and the work was done with the previous fund.
There have been previous complaints about the Smart City affair. It has been found that the equipment that will be used to cover the country with cameras has been priced at 3 to 4 times more expensive than what it costs on the market.

And it is precisely to this group that Edi Rama has decided to give the most sensitive data, and the basic element of national security, which is camera surveillance throughout the territory.
"These adventures of Edi Rama, which begin with trips and are covered with propaganda, have in many cases resulted in financial deals that are harmful to the country, carried out according to the interests and personal friendships of the prime minister, without transparency and in the dark," Këlliçi denounced./ CNA
