About 120 members of the Armed Forces, the fire brigade of the municipality of Tepelena with the necessary tools, also assisted by the helicopter of the FA, have engaged in the action to extinguish the fire in the village of Luzat, the municipality of Tepelena, where the strong wind spread at the time of fast flames on a vegetated surface.

The immediate intervention of the forces made it possible to avoid the danger to one of the apartments.

The situation was followed closely by the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, accompanied by the Prefect of the Gjirokastër District, Odise Kote, and the Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Ilir Xhebezhia. While presenting the situation, Vengu said that the cooperation of the residents of the area has also been sought, in case there would be partial evacuations.

"At one point, we had difficulty coping with the flames that were suddenly approaching, but we managed to minimize the damage. We also intervened with a helicopter, managing to have the best possible coverage of the situation. A good job has been done in Luzat, the houses, which were in danger, have been saved. Even the residents of this village have done a very good job of maintaining their lands, facilitating the work and effort of the FA to intervene or to have access," the minister emphasized.

Meanwhile, the operational forces are still on the ground continuing the work to fully extinguish all the outbreaks in this area./ CNA
