Former Deputy Minister of Education: How funds are stolen from universities

The former Deputy Minister of Education, Nora Malaj, stated tonight in Euronews Albania that it has been proven that funds in universities are mismanaged.

Malaj said that student fees have increased and there is no information from the Administrative Board regarding investments in the university system.

"The management of a university is organized by two important centers. The financial center is called the Administrative Board, where it has the power to manage the income, a part of which is given by the ministry through projects and the rest is earned by the second and third parties. The second part is the rectorate and the senate that do the academic management.

The Board of Administration manages all finances. Unfortunately, reports show that we do not have good management of these funds. We know very well that the payment for students has not been reduced, the fees have been increased. It is not known where the investments were made. "Teachers are used twice, they don't get what motivates them and they don't have real transparency ," Malaj emphasized./ CNA.al
