The new building of the Greek Consulate in Korça is inaugurated: The

Today, the new headquarters of the Greek Consulate in the city of Korça was inaugurated.

Part of this ceremony were the Greek Foreign Minister, George Gerapetritis, the Albanian Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, and other officials.

In his speech, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis stated that the new building of the Greek Consulate in Korça is a test to further strengthen minority ties.

Among other things, the Greek Foreign Minister emphasized that border-changing policies now belong to the past.

According to him, they are all old stories that no one cares about.

"This building where Nobel laureate Jorge Seferis lived and worked was owned by a Greek citizen and was purchased by the Greek state."

Jorgo Seferis was inspired by Korça, where he served as Consul General, a city that has been a pioneer of education in both the Albanian and Greek languages.

Continuing the Greek presence are the 'Omiros' school, the 'Platon' gymnasium and the Aristotelis courses in which the Greek state will continue to invest.

Our embassies and consulates are our image in the world.

The new Consulate building is part of the investments in digitalizing services. It is a testament to strengthening the ties of minorities with their home country.

For our part, we take care to strengthen relations with our neighbors.

As neighboring countries, we prioritize stability, not only in bilateral but also multilateral relations in the Region.

Border-changing policies are now a thing of the past.

And all these are old stories that no one cares about, as Seferis wrote.

"We will not take any step back in the rights of the Greek minority. Your presence with the Foreign Minister strengthens relations. The Greek minority unites us and is a bridge of understanding between the two countries," said Minister Gerapetritis./ CNA
