Electoral crime and Balluk's immunity/ SPAK head dots the "i": No

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodjan Braho, spoke about the issue of electoral crime and SPAK's request for the immunity of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

Referring to electoral crime, the head of SPAK stated that it is a worrying phenomenon, which is not only related to recent years, but has an earlier scope.

"Regarding electoral crime, we had an extensive discussion in the relevant function and provided our submissions, along with the figures we have in a summarized form. Electoral crime is a worrying phenomenon. It was not created in one or two years, but is a phenomenon of an earlier period," he said.

The head of SPAK emphasized that criminal proceedings and charges are filed only when evidence exists, opposing linking investigations to political perceptions or positions.

"The case is included in the indictment when evidence is found. Without evidence, no charges are filed. We do not start from perception, but from evidence. I do not see any connection between specific cases and electoral issues; this is a political perception," he declared.

Regarding the investigation involving Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the head of SPAK said that the institution has been clear about its demands, while not commenting on the Assembly's decision-making.

"The prosecution has been clear about what it requested, but I cannot assess the position of the Assembly on the specific issue. SPAK has reflected behind closed doors what it requested and SPAK's reaction is clear after the Assembly's decision-making," he said./ CNA
