The General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, has sent a message to the officers of the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, following Monday's assassination attempt in this city.

In his words, Proda emphasizes that the officers are the first frontal confrontation with crime and its dangerous contingent.

Proda added that the police's battle for the safety of citizens is daily and unwavering.

"Dear colleagues of the Shkodra Police,

I express my gratitude for your maximum commitment during this intense 24 hours for the Police.

Your immediate, courageous and professional response resulted in the capture and bringing to justice of the perpetrator of yesterday's crime, an event which once again proved the importance of the Police mission, as the first frontal confrontation with crime and its dangerous contingent.

I take this opportunity, through this message, to console the families of the 2 victims, to wish a speedy recovery to the injured, and to guarantee that the Police has put all its best investigative and operational capacities into the function of clarifying the circumstances and responsibilities regarding yesterday's crime, but also of the criminal events that occurred previously, in the Shkodra region.

This determination was also demonstrated by the raid in the "Guerrile" neighborhood, where information administered with complete confidentiality and operational professionalism led to the destruction of a criminal base, equipped with an arsenal of weapons and other items at the disposal of crime. It also led to the identification of 2 supporters of the perpetrator of yesterday's crime.

Finally, I want to guarantee the citizens of the Shkodra region and all of Albania that our battle for their safety is daily and unwavering, and that intensive investigative and operational work is being carried out to prevent criminal events and to solve those that have occurred.
