The Vorë - Hani i Hotit railway project envisages 13 stations along it, where a good part of them are on the existing line but which could be moved a few meters to improve circulation in the context in which the areas are located today.

A document drafted by a consultant on behalf of the Albanian Railways details that in Lezha alone we will have two stations, one of which is new.

“A total of 13 stations have been considered in the project, of which only one (Lezha 2) is a new addition, requiring both a new location and a new building.

The other stations are existing; they will either be rebuilt in their current locations or demolished and rebuilt, with possible minor changes in position within the boundaries of the HSH-owned station area,” the document states.

But what are the stations actually according to the details provided by the project?

Budull Station

Budull station will be relocated approximately 160 meters to the south, positioned just beyond km 28+488. This relocation allows the existing railway crossing, which will be secured, to operate outside the railway boundaries of the station, improving both safety and traffic flow.

Ishmi station will be relocated approximately 250 metres to the north, allowing the existing level crossing, which will be provided, to operate outside the station enclosure. The updated station plan will include a 480 metre passenger line and a protective line.

Mamurras

Mamurras station will be relocated approximately 60 meters to the north allowing the existing road level crossing at km 43+667, which will be secured, to remain outside the fenced area of ??the station.

Grave

Gjorm Station is a special freight station which will be equipped with three 750-meter freight tracks and a 100 x 4-meter platform designed for cargo operations.

The station enclosure plan allows for the addition of three more freight tracks in the future, providing scalability to meet growing demand.

Lac

Laçi station will remain at its existing location offering a 400-meter passenger track. The plans include a new parking area and a partially covered platform measuring 150 x 4 meters.

The station fence project will also include a future freight track allowing for possible expansion.

Milo

Milot's main station will remain in its current location, including a 650-meter passenger line, two 750-meter freight lines and a special reserve line for a future connection to the industrial area.

The existing Milot station building will not be demolished; rather, it will be reconstructed to improve its functionality and appearance.

The station will be surrounded by dedicated space for additional freight lines and future developments. The plans also include a new parking area and a partially covered platform measuring 150 x 4 metres, improving passenger and freight operations while allowing room for expansion.

Lezha 1

Lezhë 1 station will remain at its current location offering a 650-meter passenger runway and a 750-meter freight runway. The plans include a new parking area, a 170 x 4-meter partially covered platform and the reconstruction of the existing building to improve the station facilities.

The existing Lezhë 1 station building will not be demolished; rather, it will be reconstructed to improve its functionality and appearance.

Lezha 2

A new station, Lezha 2, will be built within the future Lezha Industrial Zone, which will include a combined passenger/freight line of 450-800 meters for local use and freight operations, a 950-meter freight line and provisions for a future connection to the Port of Shëngjin.

Lezha 2 is designed as a freight station only. The station will be fenced to secure HSH land and allow for an additional freight runway in the future.

The project includes a new parking area, a partially covered 150 x 4 meter platform and a new station building. The existing road crossing will initially be used, with an option to replace it with an overpass at the same location if necessary.

Bagel

Baqelit Station will be built on the existing site, including a 460-meter passenger line and a reserve line. The station will be fenced to secure HSH land and accommodate an additional freight line in the future.

The plans include a new parking area and a partially covered platform measuring 150 x 4 meters. The existing road crossing will remain in use, with an option to replace it with an overpass at the same location if necessary.

Honey

Mjeda Station will remain in its current location including a 570-meter passenger line, three freight lines with a useful length of 900 meters and a protective line, along with possibilities for a future rail connection with Kosovo.

To protect existing land owned by HSH, the station will be fenced off to accommodate additional tracks and cargo facilities in the future.

The plans include a new parking area, a partially covered platform measuring 200 x 4 meters, and the reconstruction of the existing building to improve overall functionality.

Shkoder

Shkodra station will remain in its existing location, including two 500-meter passenger lines, a 700-meter freight line and a defensive line.

The plans include a new parking area and two partially covered platforms measuring 200 x 4 meters, connected by an underpass. Ramps will be included to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Koplik

The existing Koplik station building will be demolished and a completely new station will be built, including improved features for better functionality and appearance.

Koplik station will be moved approximately 400 meters north, towards Bajza station, to enable the provision of level crossing over the existing road.

The new station will have a 450-meter passenger line, a 750-meter freight line and a reserve line, providing a connection to the existing railway quarry yard.

In addition, the plans include a new parking area, a partially covered platform measuring 150 x 4 meters and a new station building.

Bajze

Bajza Station will be built on its existing location, including a 550-meter passenger line, four freight lines with a useful length of 750 meters, and a buffer line.

The existing Bajza station building will not be demolished; instead, it will be reconstructed to improve its functionality and appearance.

To protect the current HSH property, the station will be fenced off to allow for the future addition of additional lines and freight facilities.

The plans also include a new parking space and a partially covered platform measuring 200 x 4 meters, along with the reconstruction of the existing building.

The existing road crossing will remain in place, with the possibility of converting it into a road overpass at the same location in the future. It is also envisaged that customs will be present at this station.

Railway project

The Vorë - Hani i Hotit project is in the procurement phase this year, where in July the list of companies that passed the first selection phase, which included five international consortiums, was revealed.
