Lawyer Jordan Daci has stated that the clashes between political formations in Albania regarding the Criminal Amnesty are a hassle with no point of connection.

Daci made the comments on the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, where he said that it is not a problem that persons convicted of corruption or terrorism have benefited from the amnesty.

Daci said that if he did the amnesty, he would make it twice as big, to benefit all the convicts, since according to him, everyone is equal.

He added that it would not be a problem for him to grant amnesty to a murderer, as according to him, it is part of mercy.

"It is an idiotic fight that does not serve the public interest. Amnesty is guided by several principles, such as humanity, equality. When the person is punished, he no longer has the punishment either from SPAK or from Taku. He is condemned. It is not normal that you do not treat a convict for these reasons that we are talking about equally with other convicts.

If I were the decision maker, I would have made the amnesty twice as big. Because our prisons... Even for murder, I would grant amnesty to someone for murder, I would reduce a part of the sentence. It is part of mercy, Jesus did it and everyone in turn.

The purpose of punishment is not to slaughter them for revenge. It is to give him a second chance. Why does the western world, for example Scandinavia, even the maximum sentence does not exceed 25 years", said Daci.
