His Beatitude John in Istanbul: Ecumenical Patriarchate, important role for the unity of the churches

Archbishop Ioan was received today by His Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew.

His Beatitude John, in his welcoming speech, thanked Patriarch Bartholomew for the warm welcome.

Archbishop Joan, during his speech, also mentioned the extraordinary contribution of Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos, saying that he raised the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania from the ruins.

His Beatitude also highlighted other major works of Janullato, starting with schools, hospitals and the great aid given to churches in Albania.

At the end of his speech, Archbishop Joan emphasized that the Ecumenical Patriarchate has a very important role in preserving unity in all churches, and therefore prays that this will continue./ CNA
