The American flag was placed upside down/ Veliaj makes the unexpected gesture

While he was invited to one of the activities of the Summit organized by the Business Chamber of the Albanian Diaspora in Tirana, the mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj noticed a detail about the flag of the United States of America. 

The discussion at the Third Summit of Business Women of the Diaspora was going on until the moment Veliaj took the floor, he asked that the US flag placed upside down be straightened, while calling this a careless action by the organizers. 


“Before I start, do we have anyone from the hotel here, from management? We have this American flag back. So I would prefer to either remove them altogether, or respect them all. Do we have someone who can move it? I don't have American-philia, even though I have it, but I have it in the fact that in Tirana we do things perfectly, we don't make such mistakes," said Veliaj.

After the flags were moved, where the US flag was placed upright with the Albanian flags, the mayor said that the activity could continue. 

 "Thank you! Perfect! Now we can begin. Each of us would be offended if this happened to our flag, even for many ladies who are Albanian-American, I believe it is the right thing to do," said the head of the Municipality./ CNA.al
