"Partizani" case/ Rama witness, Eugen Beci: GJKKO has found something

Former Serious Crimes Prosecutor, Eugen Beci, has commented on recent developments regarding the "Partizani" case, focusing on the summoning of Prime Minister Edi Rama as a witness in the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC).

Invited to the show Opinion, Beci emphasized that rejecting a court decision is practically impossible, except in cases where there are objective and legally substantiated reasons.

"For any other reason, the person is obliged to appear," he said, underlining the importance of respecting court decisions.

According to Beci, the fact that the GJKKO has accepted the request to question Rama as a witness shows that the court has carefully assessed the case and has found elements that make this testimony necessary.

He also explained the procedure: when the prime minister appears in court as a witness, he is first questioned by the party that requested him, while the defendant then has the right to ask him questions directly.

Beci emphasized that, after taking the oath, the witness is obliged to answer all questions asked in accordance with the law.

"It is impossible to refuse a court decision. For objective reasons, he may not go, but for any other reason he is obliged to go. It must be reasoned."

The fact that the GJKKO agrees to question Rama as a witness has weighed that problem so much that they have concluded something like this.

"The moment Rama goes to the GJKKO as a witness, the party that requested him is questioned, and the defendant can also ask Rama directly. If you take the oath, you are obliged to answer all the questions," said Beci./ CNA
