Former soldier Zabit Çukut, who was a supervisor in the process of disassembling weapons in Gërdec, has given his testimony at GJKKO.

Journalist Klodiana Lala told about his testimony in the process against the former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu.

The witness Zabit Çuku, a former soldier in the reserve, said that he had worked for almost a month in Gërdec, as a dismantling specialist. "Sokol Ngjeci invited us for demolition. He organized a meeting for us with Delijorg. We would be like the technical security team. I had 6-8 people under surveillance," said the witness.

Çuku said that he did not sign any contract for the work in Gërdec.

"There were oral regulations for the work, but not in writing," said the witness. Regarding the day of the event, the witness said that he heard a woman's voice "caught fire" and almost 20-30 meters away he saw white smoke, which he recognized as gunpowder smoke. "I asked the workers to leave quickly. We left for about 350 meters. From the second explosion, a piece of shell fell on my head, and I also broke my leg," said the witness. Regarding the cause of the explosion, Çuku said that after the event he heard that it was caused by the ignition of gunpowder in the newly welded cart. Among other things, he continued to tell about the day of the tragedy, while adding that the fact that a lot of gunpowder was accumulated at the scene was a mistake. "Every day gunpowder was collected in the big square. After this stage he left immediately. That day it was collected in great abundance. It was too much. And he didn't leave. He was the mistake of that day," he said.

In the court sessions for the "Gërdeci" process, witnesses were called, among them family members of the victims.
