'Metamorphosis' case/ GJKKO accepts summary trial for only 4

The GJKKO has decided today to accept a summary trial for Xhevahir Lita, Ardit Hasanbegaj, Astmer Bilal and Oltian Bistri, thus dividing the case into the well-known "Metamorphosis" file.

It is learned that the GJKKO did not accept a summary trial for the other 3 involved: Pëllumb Gjoka, Edmond Preka and Behar Brajovic.

Previously, all defendants from the 'Metamorphosis' case had requested a summary trial for the case.

Businessman Pëllumb Gjoka is accused of the murder of Gjin Ndoji in 2020 and of complicity in two other murders. While former prosecutor Xhevahir Lita and former head of the Police Operational Forces, Oltion Bistri, are accused of corruption and leaking secrets.

Also accused in this case are Astmer Bilali, Behar Bajri, Edmond Preka and former police officer, Ardit Hasanbegaj.

The group was discovered after the messages they exchanged on the Encro Chat and SKY ECC applications were analyzed. A number of real estate assets have also been seized from the group, while several of their associates are still being sought, including Ervis Martinaj. /CNA
