Sixth day of protest in Korça/ Citizens and foreign tourists join the

The sixth day of the civic protest in Korça has once again gathered numerous citizens in the city center, who have conveyed messages against injustice, corruption, and the way of governance in the country.

In addition to participants from Korça and other cities, foreign tourists who were in the city also joined the protest. One of the moments that attracted the most attention was that of a German tourist, who approached the State Police officers and distributed flowers to them, in a symbolic gesture that was applauded by those present.

The tourist said she had heard about recent developments in Albania and expressed her belief that the future of the country should belong to the youth.

"I'm from Germany and I've heard about the things that are happening. I think Albania is for young people and it's not for sale ," said the tourist.

Among the protesters was Ernesti, originally from Dibra and living in Tirana, who said that he feels affected by the situation in the country just like many other citizens.

He spoke about injustices, corruption and phenomena that, according to him, have damaged Albanian society, emphasizing that Albanians have been educated with values ??of honesty and not to benefit at the expense of others.

According to him, public and natural resources should not be exploited for narrow interests, while he called for educated young people to be more engaged in public life and take responsibility for the future of the country.

"My name is Ernest. I am originally from Dibra, but I live in Tirana. And I want to tell you why I am touched, as all of you and all true citizens of Albania are touched, by this awakening and this rise. Because we suffer injustices, we suffer the thieving, the charlatans of these people who demand that we be dirty, thieves, to be shameless in order to be capable. No, we are honest! We have been educated to be loyal Albanians, we have been educated to be noble, and not to be criminals, thieves, drug addicts, mafiosi... ", said the protester.

Another participant focused on the spirit of the protest, describing it as a civic movement carried out with culture and respect. He said that what impressed him most was the presence of ordinary people, who, according to him, had come out with good intentions and a desire to contribute to the country.

The protester emphasized that this commitment must continue and that every citizen has the obligation to make their contribution at a moment that he considered historic for Albania.

"To cut a long story short and to the feeling of the moment, the idea is that, even when I was a participant in the protests in Tirana, the thing that impressed me the most was that everywhere, everywhere, you could see only good people with good intentions. Which means, it is a civic protest, with culture, and a kind of education, and a kind of example that we are setting for the whole world, not just here. Let's continue, let's not give up! We will continue to give our maximum, so that in this historical moment of the country, everyone can do their role as an Albanian ", said another participant.

During the rally, there were also discussions about the urban development of Korça and the way decisions related to the transformation of public spaces have been made. One of the protesters, an engineer by profession, compared the current situation to a strong tectonic earthquake, which according to him could bring significant changes to the political and social life of the country.

He focused particularly on the National Fighter monument in Korça and the impact of new construction around it, arguing that professionals and citizens should be heard more in decision-making.

" These events are like the work of these earthquakes that occur once every 30-40 years and create powerful seven-eight-magnitude clashes, which today have shaken Albanian politics. And today, from this movement, from this tectonics, we must experience a renaissance, not what has been recommended to us during this time, but a new renaissance. A new state, which will allow the citizen in this state to feel like a citizen with honor," said a protester.

The protest took place without incident, while organizers have stated that the rallies will continue in the coming days, with the aim of keeping civic engagement alive and conveying their messages peacefully./CNA
