EU Delegation, in the GJKKO building/ Reconstruction, financed with confiscated

The Delegation of the European Union to Albania visited the building of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, which is funded by the European Union and has recently been reconstructed according to the highest EU standards.

According to the EU Delegation, 80% of the reconstruction cost was covered through the reuse of confiscated assets, a model that was appreciated as a concrete example of the use of seized assets in order to strengthen justice institutions.

During the visit, the acting President of the Special Court of First Instance, Erjon Bani, and the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, discussed the role of the Court in increasing public trust in the justice system and the importance of maintaining high standards in the decision-making process.

Ambassador Gonzato emphasized that improving judicial infrastructure should remain a priority throughout Albania, with the aim of guaranteeing security, transparency and citizens' access to justice./ CNA
