Residents of Porto Romano have protested in front of the gas factory in Durrës. The fear of a gas explosion has brought them together for the second time in a peaceful organization.

They see the factory as a time mine, which could repeat a tragedy like the Gerdec one.

"I am a leftist, let them know, but it is a matter of people's lives. Those who listen to me, tell me and so on. This is a minefield. If this explodes, the explosion will reach Durrës. "They should put their finger on their head, but they have not learned a lesson from Gërdec", says a resident of the area.

“Kush ka vënë firmë këtu të mbajë përgjegjësi. Unë kam 30 vjet këtu, firma tani erdhi. Ajo më ka gjetur mua këtu, se kam gjetur unë. Është shumë e rrezikshme se mes banorëve nuk lejohet”, shprehet një tjetër.

Fëmijë, burra dhe gra kanë kërkuar ndërhyrjen e autoriteteve ligjzbatuese për zhvendosjen e fabrikës.

Nëse autoritetet nuk marrin masa, ata do të përshkallëzojnë protestat.

Protesta mbështetej këtë herë edhe nga një grup të rinjsh të Forumit Rinor të Partisë Demokratike Durrës.

"Together with the residents, we have decided to set up a commission for Porto Romano, which will consist of the residents of the area. At the same time we will send official documents to the municipality of Durrës, to the Ministry of Environment, to the People's Advocate and the Commissioner of Discrimination. We will continue to escalate our initiatives until we have a solution ", says Artion Bajramaj - Head of FRPD Durrës.
