The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku held a working meeting in Rome with her Italian counterpart Matteo Salvini.

At the center of the talks was the increased bilateral interest in supporting the development of investments in energy, infrastructure as well as transport modernization programs in our country, especially in the maritime and railway fields.

"In Italy we find not only a great supporter of Albania's European journey, but a concrete partner in our effort for more interconnections in energy, more navigation safety and sustainable development for air and rail transport", said Balluku during the meeting. .

The delegations focused on the progress of the projects along Corridor VIII and especially on the railways, which are being financed by the European Union, sharing the view that the Blue Corridor and Corridor VIII constitute key works for tourism, supply chains and for the security of the Adriatic-Ionian region in general.

"Albania has ambitious projects, which attract the attention of the leading Italian companies", underlined Salvini. The Italian side also expressed its willingness to support the increase in the capacities of the Albanian Coast Guard, in accordance with its needs for more navigational safety and support of the blue economy.

"Beyond the obvious cooperation in the field of security, the bilateral relationship can be defined as a series of projects that we want to move forward together", said Balluku, at the end of the visit./ CNA
