Balluku gives the news: Soon, Gjirokastra with an airport

The number two of the government at the same time, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku has declared that the process for the construction of the new airport in Gjirokastër will start very soon.

Balluku said that the time has come to turn tourism into an industry that plays an important role in the country's economic growth.

"To get the best of the country, a country that God has generously blessed with high mountains, blue seas and fields and with all the good things that come out of the land of this country, that you are already visiting us, you have tried the cuisine.

The time has come to organize all these, to put them on a proper highway to turn tourism not into a genetic achievement but into a real industry that plays an important role in the country's economic growth.

The figures have been growing and making Albania one of the first countries in this 2 years in terms of tourist development and the number of visitors. I have to contribute strongly in terms of building useful infrastructure for this new and fragile sector in the country.

In 2018, when the government decided at that time to launch a development strategy, there were indeed many skeptics, this often happens in politics, who say why new airports are needed in one country, when the only one in Tirana was almost was at 50 percent of capacity.

Although it is often said that the time has come for this economic growth and success in tourism, it is not true. Everyone had their time before us, but for them the time did not come. Talk about a whole decade and planned work and today it translates into results.

In just a few months we will have the largest airport in the Balkans. After a study with the Ministry of Tourism, we have taken a new decision to start the process for an airport in the south of the country by closing the crown of civil aviation, in Kukës, in Tirana, in Vlora and then in Gjirokastër, one of the areas more interesting for tourism", stated Balluku./ CNA
