Over 3,500 cannabis plants were destroyed in Lezhë, Shkodër, Krujë and Tropoja

Over 3,500 cannabis plants were destroyed in Lezhë, Shkodër,
Cannabis plants found by police

During the last 72 hours, the State Police destroyed 3,543 more cannabis sativa narcotic plants in the villages and mountainous areas of Lezha, Shkodra, Kruja and Tropoja by burning them.

Also, a suspected perpetrator was arrested for several cases of cultivation in Kurbin, and the mayor of a village in Kukës is being prosecuted for abuse of office.

1000 police officers and 25 drones were committed to the finalization of this phase of the "FOCUS" mega-operation where they made possible the destruction of narcotic plants, respectively:

1. 878 plants were destroyed in the territory of the municipalities of Lezhë, Mirditë and Kurbin, as a result of the 34th phase of the "Image" operation.

2. 1932 plants were destroyed in the territory of Shkodër and Vau i Deja municipalities, as a result of the 14th phase of the "Clean Alps" operation.

3. 688 plants were destroyed in the highlands of Kruja, as a result of the 36th phase of the "Clean Territory" operation.

4. 45 plants were destroyed in the village of Breg Lumë, Tropoje, as a result of the 8th phase of the "Bjeshket e Nemuna" operation. The mayor of this village was prosecuted for abuse of office.

Meanwhile, the Police in the districts, under the direction of the respective prosecutions, continue the investigations with the aim of identifying and arresting the perpetrators of the cultivation of these narcotic plants.

The State Police invites the citizens to cooperate with the Police, to fulfill the objective of the "FOCUS" mega-operation, as well as to denounce any other illegality, in order to create a safe environment./ CNA
