A group of residents of the village of Çërravë have gathered to protest in front of the Pogradec police station, where 27-year-old Kevi Muçllari is being arrested, after the physical clash that occurred today with municipal councilor Engjëll Shyti.
Among the residents is also lawyer Endri Çela, who stated that Muçllari's arrest was not made in accordance with the law because, according to him, there was no beating but a mutual push. He further added that all parties involved in the conflict should have been escorted and their statements taken by the police.
"The arrest of citizen Kevi Muçllari is not in accordance with the law, firstly because it was not a case of a strike, there was a joint postponement. Kevi did not provoke the dispute or conflict as far as we can call it a conflict and we are not in the conditions of a classic strike due to duty. The second element has to do with the fact that the dispute did not arise due to the fact of who a councilor voted for or who another councilor voted for despite the opposition that Kevi and all the other residents had. The dispute arose at the moment when Kevi was leaving and there was a reaction from other people, so it arose after the voting had ended. From this point of view, I do not see that it was due to duty. It is a joint postponement that arose because they were caught in words. I think that we are not in the conditions of a postponement due to duty and it is not Kevi Muçllari who provoked this situation. Normally, all parties involved should be accompanied and should be "The relevant statements are taken. I do not know this fact. We will follow the procedure by asking the prosecution to consider this arrest illegal and if it does not qualify it as illegal, we will then ask the court to evaluate it and not to assign any security measure against him ," said lawyer Çela.
One of the villagers also demanded that the 27-year-old be released, saying his arrest was unjustified. He said that the municipal councilor with whom Muçllari clashed had provoked other people. The resident added that they see the young man's arrest as pressure on them.
"We demand that they release the boy who was taken without any reason at all. We don't know the reason why they took him from us when someone can be free where he is and the other one is in the police station. Let them take us all together. We debated too, it's not just him, here in our country if you don't debate, no one listens to you. We were very provoked by the councilor, I went outside because if I were inside I wouldn't know what I would do. To scare us, no one scares us, by detaining the boy they want to stop us, they are putting pressure on us, that's how I see it. The boy was very involved with Çërrava, when they arrested his daughter, which is pressure on us. We didn't leave him, that's where we are today, that's why we are here, we didn't leave the boy here. The law has been violated with all four legs. We are not falling on their necks, we are not asking for work, nothing, on the contrary we are demanding our rights" , he said. /CNA
