The American embassy denies Lul jumashini

The American Embassy in Tirana, in a statement to the media, spoke about the possibility of mediation by the diplomatic headquarters in overcoming the crisis in the special parliamentary commission for Electoral Reform.

The response states that Embassy officials will continue to meet regularly with the chairmen, co-chairmen and members of various parliamentary commissions, including the Special Commission for Electoral Reform, underlining that the meetings are not part of any mediation.

So the embassy says that it did not mediate in this process.

"As part of our normal diplomatic engagement with members of parliament, the US Embassy meets regularly with chairs, co-chairs and members of various parliamentary committees, including the Electoral Reform Commission. Meetings are not part of any mediation. Our interest remains in effective and representative governance to implement ODIHR's recommendations, and we welcome the ideas of all responsible parties for this purpose", underlines the press office of the American Embassy.

With this statement, the American embassy refutes Lulzim Basha, who the day before, after the Assembly session, emphasized that in cooperation with the international factor, the strategic partners of Albania, he convinced the SP to reach an agreement with Enkelejd Alibeajn (co-chairman of the Reform Electoral) for Electoral Reform.

"In cooperation with the international factor, the representative whom I would like to thank, we managed to take a modest first step towards the main priority of removing political incompetence from the political scene through the electoral reform. At least for the moment it seems that in cooperation with the allies Albania's strategic parties, the Democratic Party, as the leader of this process, has managed to convince the other party to start work on the Electoral Reform Commission", Basha said. /CNA
