"Alarm for online attacks on journalists"/ The Journalists'

The Journalists' Association of Albania has reacted today regarding the increase in online attacks against journalists, especially against girls and women, in recent days.

In a statement, the Association considers the political climate in the country to be tense, which, according to it, has fueled hate speech, intimidation, and attempts to denigrate journalists.

The Journalists' Association of Albania emphasizes that the role of journalists is to report on daily developments, without being intimidated or hindered in the exercise of their duties.

"The Journalists' Association of Albania expresses deep concern about the increase in online attacks against journalists, especially against girls and women, in recent days.

In a tense political climate, we note with alarm the increase in hate speech, intimidation and attempts to denigrate journalists. Their role is to report on daily developments, including those of justice, and no one should intimidate or hinder them in carrying out their duty to bring the truth, whatever it may be.

"We call on all actors involved to show restraint and respect for journalists, who not only have the right, but also the professional duty to inform the public with impartiality and accuracy," the Association's statement reads./CNA
